Desiree Biography

Palesa Desiree Shilabje, simply known as Desiree, is a born and bred Joburger who started listening to house music from just 10 years old.

Her love for the genre grew while modelling, walking the likes of SA Fashion Week, and the electronic sounds of Thom Yorke, Bonobo and Gui Boratto often played on runways. Having started DJing earlier this year, her mixes bring together electronic sounds, Afro house and techno by Osunlade, Da Capo, &ME, Guy Mantzur, Jonathan Kaspar and Sobek.

Desiree has also become a regular at events such as Deep Town Jozi, The Rhythm and Deep in the City and has played alongside Da Capo, Simmy, SunEl Musician, Kwesta and Busiswa, among many others.

Desiree set her sights on giving DJing her all after graduating with a BCom (PPE) Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Wits University in 2018. In just a year she has catapulted from obscurity to become one of the most promising deep house DJs in Johannesburg and counts BudX, The Rhythm, Surreal Electronica, The Friday Sundowners and the Living Room among her fast growing list of appearances.

Currently working on her production, Desiree is determined to release her own records and share her love for house music on stage, through the speakers and in your ears.
