Impi is an afro tribal offering that finds its roots on the world wide web. It is yet another prime illustration of how great talents can be brought together through music in boundless ways. The project begun with the undeniable groove created by Pex Africah, Fang recalls, “Pex Africah posted the drum of the song on instastories with the caption – “I don’t know what to do anymore” and I replied to the story, telling him to leave it as it is and send it over”. Fang then reached out to Lizwi suggesting that she collaborates with the producers, offering her powerful vocal prowess to reinforce the message in the music. Lizwi wrote the lyrics and effortlessly recorded the vocals to the music. Bambelela which can be loosely interpreted as ‘we are running a race to success, it’s not an easy one but hang in there. We are fighting a good fight of prosperity, hang in there don’t give up, all the effort you put in now, will determine your success’, to give you a synopsis of the song. Fang was also instrumental in arranging mutual friend and musician More Soul to play keys on the song. More Soul joins this collaborative foray with timeless melodies.
