Radio Soulheadz (RSH), hosted by Mawande Kheswa is a weekly two hour House music & culture radio show broadcasted online with listeners all over the world. The first session of Radio Soulheadz aired on 10 December of 2017. Radio Soulheadz (RSH) aims to have over 40 shows in 2018 airing every week consistently.
Since December 2017 the show has had over 300 streams and counting. For a new show it has done very well and Radio Soulheadz (RSH) aims to collaborate with various stations, brands & creatives worldwide to increase its footprint.
Radio Soulheadz (RSH) plays Deep house, afro house, soulful, afro tech and downtempo. The music compiled is a blend of new and old tracks. They feature in-house mixes from DJs under Radio Soulheadz as well as guest DJ mixes from all over the world. Some unique features on the show include 2 30-minute mixes, “Unshazamable” where they play 2 exclusive and unreleased tracks from an artist.
The radio show also has a weekly interview with a DJ/Producer. Past guests on the show include Enoo Napa, Da Capo, Cuebur and more. All songs playlisted are accompanied by the original artwork and link to music stores for purchase. This is done to promote the artist and drive traffic to music sites.
‘‘Radio Soulheadz (RSH)’s mission is to become an academy that develops, upskills and trains creatives for the work environment and also to become self-sustaining. We aim to change the culture of granting opportunities based on popularity’’ said Mawande Kheswa.
Passion, potential, talent and drive are the characteristics that they believe form the foundation for the standard by which opportunities should be granted. Radio Soulheadz was formed on the basis of creating a platform for the youth to give life to their dreams and fulfil their purpose.
“Izandla ziyagezana” is an isiZulu saying which when translated means “I help you, you help me”. This saying encapsulates the need for the youth to view themselves as a community of helping hands.
