Dr.Renas and DJ Bráulio Silva paired up as Afro Warriors in 2015 and have quickly built a reputation for their rhythmic house productions on the likes of DM.Recordings, Olukwi Music, and Tribe Records. Last year saw the duo follow up the success of ‘Buya’ by releasing ‘Uyankenteza’ on Tribe. Featuring South African vocalist Toshi, the track combined thoughtful lyrics with a catchy hook line, superbly arranged bassline with leading support from the likes of Black Coffee and DJ Shimza.
Now Enoo Napa brings fresh remixes to this afro house classic-in-the-making. Siphiwe Mkhize, better known as Enoo Napa, is a self-taught producer from the township of Umlazi, Durban in KwaZulu Natal. After taking up production in 2013, his productions have blazed a trail to the sets of prominent DJs worldwide and earned him the 17th spot on the Traxsource Top 100 Afro House producers of 2016. Now one of the most prolific young house music producers in South Africa, Enoo Napa has remixed for Black Coffee, N’dinga Gaba, Mi Casa, Oscar P, King Sfiso, DJ Merlon and continues to put out heavy, raw afro, electronic infused cuts on various well recognised international labels; Iklwa Brothers Music, MoBlack, Offering Recordings, Aluku Records, Arrecha Records, DM. Recordings and many others.
According to me, this is just one track that has stood the test of time as it carries with it some authentic heavy Afro Tribal Sound which is aimed at offering the listener a perfect example of what an Afro House Music Sound should be like (perfect, well balanced with minimal use of unnecessary instruments or sounds). Having gone through a lot of tracks to ‘kick start’ our Music Review Series, what better way to set the tone than to have this ‘huge banger’ of a track feature on our ‘Music Review Series’.
