One of the foundations of the Afrocentric Records label roster. Kates Le Cafe is a master of many genres whether it’s Gqom alongside the Kapsule Boyz or Soulful House with Dr Sekza, his unique production talents shine through.
For his third release on Afrocentric Records he gives us three trackd which showcases his production skills to their full extent. First up is the lead track Bad Samaritans which is a driving, pounding and pumping Afro House workout, built around an incessant percussion loop which builds and builds to create a soundscape that draws you in.
He then shows his deeper side in Abaphansi which has been catching up heat from deejays when sent out on limited promo earlier this year. Deep Afro House Music at its finest all built around a ceaseless organ stab which builds into a crescendo of sound, supplemented by some dark string work which takes the listener deep into the vibe. To close the package we have a straight up percussive and afro acid workout. The Exorcism, with its Acid sounding lead chord holding the track together alongside Kate’s intricate drum work, this one is not for the faint hearted.
