Flying the flag for Mozambique, “Afrocentric Records” introduces the latest project from deep house deejay “WildOne94”. With easily one of the more experimental styles on the Afrocentric roster, WildOne94 (born Emerso Monjane) left the garage & power pop world and became a solo electronic producer with a specialty in a techno-industrial blend of afro house.
His latest single, “The Prophecy” furthers this trend to a fantastic degree. Upon listening to this single you will be introduced to a sprawling build of atmospheric effects followed by marching drum beats laid under aggressive analog synth stabs and MIDI plinks; the title track being the more aggressive of the two. By comparison, B-side “The Apocalipse” takes a mellower turn into progressive afro house. Light pad synths reverberate in the mix and achieve a near-ambient quality, which only speaks volumes to WildOne’s experience in other genres outside of electronica. With bold experiments like this, one can only imagine where he’ll go next.
