On the Heritage Day, 24 September 2017 the Kwaito and House Legends and upcoming artists came together to witness the nominations announcement at Walter Sisulu Square in Soweto presented by Mzansi Kwaito & House Music Awards (MKHMA).The event was epic and lit with great performances of great South African Kwaito and House artists. The great performances of the night were featuring the likes of Vetkuk & Mahoota, the legends Mapaputsi, Spikiri “the Don Father” and Skhokho. There were also lots of upcoming artist’s performances and among those was Skolopad who opened the stage.
The theme for the nominations night was Isipantsula, Mathand’ekhishini or White top with jean and takkies and most of the artists and guests dressed the theme.The CEO/Founder Perfecta Khumalo did the presentation where she emphasized the importance of honoring, appreciating and recognizing the Kwaito and House Artists. She presented the Vision, Mission, Objectives and Values of MKHMA where she emphasized the reclaiming and taking pride in Kwaito as a uniquely South African genre and she also revealed the 2017 MKHMA main event hosts which are Chomee and Skhokho.
