Nkosingiphile Ngiba aka SoulPoizen has established himself as a house music producer, remixer and DJ based in Durban, South Africa. His passion for house music drove him to pursue his career in music production from 2009 and has been growing in his unique style since then. SoulPoizen has been influenced mostly by the likes of Black Coffee, Boddhi Satva, Atjazz, &ME, Osunlade. In his own way, he has managed to manipulate such sounds to illustrate his own perspective of deep blended sounds filled with African and Soul Elements.

He’s been featured on many DJ podcasts such as Mordern Soul Radio (LA) , DJ Andy X’s Basement Mix on Channel O, Aluku Rebels(UK) and has even received the honor of being featured on compilations like The Finest Lady of House 4 compilation by Afrotainments’ own DJ Cndo. During the existence of AFROdesiamp3.com, a site that has given a lot of South African producers the opportunity to showcase their work to the global environment; SoulPoizen together with Black Motion, Black Coffee, Culoe De Song, Oskido, Ralf Gum were one of the leading brands on the site. In this list of heavy artists, SoulPoizen has been maintaining a very tight competition with tracks like “Shadows of the Moon” holding the number one spot for over two months, with all these heavyweights behind him. This has attracted a lot of media and mostly the radio to feature his works and even invite him for live interviews and mixes. Radio stations like GagasiFM, MetroFM, and others continue to play his music to this day. Writers like Mike Fossati of SpiritOfHouse.com have also appreciated SoulPoizen’s work that he wrote a review on his release together with Sobz titled “Believer” in 2011 under Soul’O Music and Intombi Emnyama featuring Mthuthu in 2014. The release (Believer, 2011) held the number one spot on the site.

In 2011, SoulPoizen established his own production house and entertainment company Herbs & Soul Music, which has been bringing heavy material in the digital space through movements like AFROdesia, Traxsource and Itunes. He was one of the presenters on the SAMC 2011 alongside Invaders; their session was explaining the ins and outs of the production software “Fruity Loops, SL Studio” and the importance of creating your own unique sound. The panel included House heavyweights such as Rocco, Ralf Gum, DJ Christos, Vinny Da Vinci, C.Robert Walker, Monique Bingham, Culoe De Song, Zakes Bantwini, Oskido, Greg Maloka and many otherheavyweights.

His company currently stands with himself as the label head/artist, Sandile Mbuli (A&R and bookings manager) and Bandile Bhengu as the event’s manager. His label has worked with DJ Feevos (Greece), Darian Crouse (US), Thukie (Tzz Productions), Sobz (Soul’O Music), Afrotainment, April Arceno (NY, USA), Surreal Sounds and many others. Amongst playing at top club venues in South Africa, SoulPoizen has played in Swaziland prior to the release of Nature Frequencies as one of the SA headlining acts at Club Babylon. Together with Sobz of Soul’O Music, they’ve hosted Black Coffee at Club Tilt in 2012; initiated the Soul’O Experience from Club Tilt to the renowned Delasol which lead them to being one of the main acts at the Vodacom Durban July (Oasis Lifestyle Main Stage) in 2013.
He was in the top 36 finalists in SA amongst Chymamusique, Dj Mshega, Dj Mlungu and many others… on SABC 1 1s and 2s (a reality show for upcoming deejays & producers) in 2014.

In August 2014, Herbs & Soul Music released his debut album “Nature Frequencies” featuring the likes of Thukie, Darian Crouse, Room 806, Monocles, Slezz, Holi M, C-ne, Stevaan and Sobz. The album was well received in the South African Deep/Soulful house scene, with copies selling out on the first month of release.
Nature Frequencies is available on Traxsource,Itunes and other major leading digital stores; and also in physical form at Musica outlets across South Africa, and Botswana.
