Jnr SA and Section Five combine the lyrical directness and vocal delivery associated with Amapiano with a 3-Step foundation. Subtle uplift effects and snare rolls add tension and movement, drawing on techniques more commonly associated with Tech House. The combination reflects the increasingly European-facing sound of Afro House without losing its African centre.
Amaphupho follows a consistent run of releases from Jnr SA throughout 2025, including his remix of Mngani, where he brought his own production approach to Darque and Sjava’s original.
With Section Five, Jnr SA builds on that thread. Their collaboration centres on dreams, ambition and the possibility of change, while the production keeps the record firmly connected to the dancefloor. Section Five gives the song its emotional weight, carrying the message without overplaying it.
The official video extends that world visually, giving the song another dimension while keeping its focus on the ideas at its core.
Amaphupho understands something the bigger-drop school of Afro House can forget: tension means more when the song gives you a reason to care. Sometimes the groove, the vocal and the story are enough.
