After making his debut with ‘Find Our Love EP’ earlier this year, London Fields (aka Joel Edwards of Deepest Blue fame) returns to the Friday Fox den with a superb new slice of indie fused underground House titled ‘Colour To My Life’. Centred around a smouldering deep house groove that’s underpinned by a brooding bass, ‘Colour To My Life’ is charged with an infectious and beautifully candid vocal from Joel. Remixes come from Sonny Wharton, who whacks up the energy delivering a techy ‘Darkdancer Dub’, powered by a dominant Hi-NRG tinged arpeggiated base hook; Rapson cooks up a platter of breezy feel-good melodies seasoned with warm synthology and old school samples; and FFR’s own Christian B vibes out on a haunting 90’s tip for the deeper floors. Also on the package, Joel notches things down tempo under his new Deeper The Fallguise, planting the song firmly in the Indie/Nu Disco arena with an 80’s fused soundtrack of lush power-synths, a cool guitar solo and magnetic toms!
“I love being in the lab and try to work no agenda, everyday has to be fun and expressive. ‘Colour To My Life’ came about as a happy accident.“ – London Fields

UK Producer Joel Edwards is probably most famed for his releases from his band, Deepest Blue, who scored top ten chart hit success across the UK and abroad. He also writes and records under various other guises including London Fields, TrAmHeD, Dead Guys and his new monicker Deeper The Fall, along with a host of other names. Throughout his impressive career Joel has worked with the likes of Planet Funk, Chicane, Joey Negro, MJ Cole, The Underwolves, Andy Barlow, DJ Pulse, Ed Case, Eliot James, Skin (Skunk Anansie) Georgie Fame and the BBC Session Orchestra to name a few. He has remixed for the likes of Blondie, LAMB, Pixie Lott and Sway. Joel’s production work has landed on major and underground labels including Mercury, Sony Columbia, Ministry of Sound, EMI, Toolroom, Data Records, Cafe Del Mar, Spinnin and more.
‘Colour To My Life’ will be released on Traxsource promo on February 16th / Full release March 2nd 2018 on Friday Fox Recordings.

On the ‘SpotLight’ this week, we have the ‘multi-talented’ Mawande Kheswa. Some of us have seen him on e.TV Sunrise as he is their News Anchor. Most of us know him as an up and coming music producer who is passionate about ‘youth development’ within the creative industry. With all that on his table, Mawande Kheswa also manages to ‘bless our souls’ with his weekly 100% House Music Radio Show ‘Radio Soulheadz’. ‘Ladies and Gents’, this is what went down on our ‘one on one’ with Mawande Kheswa …
ShoMag: First of all thank you for taking some time out for this ‘one on one’. Can we start by asking who is”Mawande Kheswa” and where is he from?
Mawande Kheswa: I’m a young ambitious ‘music producer, News Anchor, Radio show host and part time Dj’. Basically I’m a creative who loves music and sending out positive vibrations through sound. I was born in a Township called Gamalakhe close to Portshepstone in the South Coast of KZN, South Africa.
ShoMag: One can do a lot within ‘Mzansi House Music Scene’, what would you say is your involvement within this scene?
Mawande Kheswa: My job is to ‘groom and develop aspiring musicians’ as well as to give them a platform to use their talent. Quite often getting on radio and tv is a mission for house producers and I want to play a part in changing that. On a broader scale I recently produced Thiwe’s upcoming single and I’m definitely going to contribute more towards the South African house music scene.

Mzansi Kwaito & House Music Awards #MKHMA has done it once more, against all odds and negative setbacks which were set on hindering the success of this prestigious award ceremony. Last year’s award ceremony was once again a success.
‘I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who made their way through to the award ceremony on the 25th November 2017. Mzansi music fans, media houses, media personalities, and the extinguished guests came in numbers to witness this growing award ceremony’–Azola Mlota #MKHMA PR

Last year’s theme for the awards was ‘Spantsula,Mathand’ekhishini & All Star’ and the hashtag used was #HereWeGrowAgain. Last year’s award ceremony is proof of how #MKHMA has grown within ‘Mzansi’s Annual Calendar’. This was made possible by the well-coordinated efforts from their event planning and production teams which ensured that we received an amazing award ceremony filled with all the ‘glits&glam’.
‘There is so much which improved this year not only on the basis of production, what matters is that we worked as a team’ Azola Mlota . The following day which was Sunday the 26th, Cappelos was the place to be as #MKHMA hosted their ‘Winners Celebration Party’.
‘We wouldn’t be where we are if it wasn’t for you at home who sacrifice your hard earned cash to buy a ticket and come to the event, it’s because of the love that our people show for ‘kwaito and house music’, for that we will be forever greatful. This year we will be getting even bigger, I’m talking about more brand awareness (TV, Radio, Social Media) with numerous planned activations. We are planning to host this year’s award ceremony on the 23rd of November and we are still deciding on the venue as we would like to accommodate everyone.’ – Perfecta Khumalo #MKHMA PR
#MKHMA would like to thank everyone for making the second annual Mzansi Kwaito & House Music Awards a success. Get in touch with them on social media for updates. Catch the full list of award winners here.
